This business, established more than 30 years ago by the owner, manufactures bespoke joinery, mainly in hardwoods. Around 70% of sales are to local builders with the balance being private work which comes by recommendation. The owner was having health problems relating to the dusty environment and needed to retire. He had appointed a broker about a year before he was introduced to Anderson Shaw but this broker failed to find even 1 interested party and there was no sign of any change in their approach to try to solve the business owner’s problem which by then was becoming more acute.
We remarketed the business, undertaking an intensive campaign of advertising and direct approaches to potential trade buyers. It did take a little longer to find a buyer than usual but we had done so within 5 months of being engaged and the deal completed smoothly about 3 months later.
